Case study: Uniparts

An industrial parts catalogue with part-number search, quote requests and dealer prices

Uniparts needed its older catalogue site rebuilt on WooCommerce. Customers had to find parts by part number, and dealers needed different prices from retail buyers.

In short

Uniparts Inc. repairs and remanufactures industrial electronics for material handling, such as forklift motor controllers, logic cards, drives and joysticks, and sells parts. It was founded in Chicago in 1973 and is based in Bensenville, Illinois. Codiffy rebuilt its catalogue on WooCommerce with search across every part number, Stock Check and Request a Quote on each product, and Retail, Dealer and Master Dealer prices by user role. The site went live on 1 July 2022 and, after speed work, scored GTmetrix A and Google PageSpeed 100 on desktop and 97 on mobile.

The short version

Challenge
Uniparts needed its older catalogue site rebuilt on WooCommerce. Customers had to find parts by part number, and dealers needed different prices from retail buyers.
Approach
We imported the products with three part number fields and three price levels shown by user role, added Stock Check and Request a Quote to every product, logged every request in a custom back-end menu and built search across all the part numbers.
Result
The new site went live on 1 July 2022 and the catalogue now holds more than 6,000 products that staff edit themselves. After speed work in September 2022 it scored GTmetrix A and Google PageSpeed 100 on desktop and 97 on mobile.

About Uniparts

Uniparts Inc. repairs and remanufactures industrial electronics for material handling, from forklift motor controllers and logic cards to drives and joysticks, and sells parts. It was founded in Chicago in 1973 and is based in Bensenville, Illinois.

What Uniparts needed

An older catalogue site rebuilt on WooCommerce. Customers needed to find parts by part number, and dealers needed different prices from retail buyers.

What we built

  • Requirements and import A requirements document first, then the products imported from the old site with three part number fields and three price fields, Retail, Dealer and Master Dealer, each shown to the right user role.
  • Stock Check and Request a Quote Both on every product page, next to Add to Cart for orders placed without card payment. Every request is emailed to the staff and logged in a custom back-end menu.
  • Part-number search A home page without product listings: customers reach products through search across all part numbers, the manufacturer number and the name, later tuned for dashes, spaces and partial numbers.
  • Launch Live on 1 July 2022 with SSL, and the admin handed over to the staff, who edit products themselves.
  • Additions since A Login for exclusive pricing button, a sign-up fix, Google Analytics, and monthly updates and security checks since November 2023.

Speed optimization

We optimized the new site with NitroPack, which adds caching and a content delivery network, and showed the staff how to clear the cache. After the work the home page scored GTmetrix grade A, with 100% performance and 100% structure and a fully loaded time of 2.4 s, and Google PageSpeed 100 on desktop and 97 on mobile. There is no test from before the work.

A WooCommerce store with purchase order checkout for a face shield maker

Challenge
Amdrecor sold its face shields through a separate GoDaddy shopping cart. In spring 2020 it wanted a clean WordPress store live quickly, with subscriptions, coupons, Canadian orders and a portal for wholesale partners.
Result
The new store replaced the GoDaddy cart at the turn of June and July 2020, and business buyers can check out with a purchase order number.

Two ASP.NET gift sites merged into one wholesale WooCommerce store

Challenge
Born ran two separate, dated ASP.NET sites, one for aviation gifts and one for rail gifts. They looked outdated, most of all on phones, and the full product list sat behind one shared login. Born sells only to retailers, so prices had to stay hidden from the public.
Result
The new store went live on 28 February 2023, the date the client had asked for, on a new domain. Two sites and two catalogs became one store, and the client manages products and prices himself.
