Getting more out of Squarespace

Squarespace is built so an owner can run a site without a developer, and for many small businesses that is exactly right. Where it pays to bring someone in is the design, which decides whether the site looks like yours or like a template, the setup of forms, commerce and scheduling, and the small features that need custom CSS or code.

Search on Squarespace

Squarespace handles much of the technical side itself, such as the sitemap, secure connections and mobile layouts. What it cannot do for you is write a clear title and description for each page, choose sensible addresses, describe your images and redirect old addresses when pages move. We set all of that up and show you how to keep it tidy.

When Squarespace is not the right fit

If your site needs complex bookings, a large catalog, custom logic or integrations Squarespace does not support, we say so on the first call. A Squarespace site cannot be moved to another platform as it is: the design is rebuilt and the content carried over, with redirects. It is worth choosing well at the start.

How it works

  1. Free call

We look at your current site or idea and what the site has to do.

From you: A link to the site, or examples you like.
  2. Plan and quote

Pages, features, the plan they need and a fixed quote.

From you: Contributor access to your Squarespace site.
  3. Design and build

A new site stays private until you approve it; on an existing site we work on a duplicate where Squarespace allows it.

From you: Your copy and images.
  4. Launch

Domain connected, redirects from old addresses added and forms tested.

  5. Afterwards

Help when you need it, from a small change to a new section.

What affects the price

Every project gets a fixed quote after a free call, so you know the total before anything starts. These are the things that move it.

  • Number of pages
  • Custom design and custom code
  • Store, scheduling or member features
  • Content moved from another site
  • How much help with the copy you need

Questions about squarespace website design and development.

Do you work on existing Squarespace sites?

Yes: redesigns, fixes, new sections and custom code on sites you already have, as well as new sites.

Can you add custom code to Squarespace?

Yes, within Squarespace's rules. Custom CSS changes the look, and code injection adds scripts and features on the plans that include it. We check your plan before quoting.

Is Squarespace good for SEO?

It is a sound base: it handles the sitemap, secure connections and mobile layouts. Rankings then depend on the same things as on any platform: clear pages about what you offer, good titles and descriptions, and a fast site.

Should I move from Squarespace to WordPress?

Only if you need something Squarespace cannot do, such as complex features, a large store or full control of the code. Many small businesses are better off staying. We give you an honest answer.

Who owns the site?

You do. The Squarespace account and the domain are in your name, and we work through contributor access.
