Case study: Retirement Income Planner

A retirement income website that matches every visitor to a local agent

The client wanted one new website that teaches people about Social Security and retirement income, gives away guidebooks and works as the landing page for every agent in its program, with a consumer view and a professional view on one domain.

In short

Retirement Income Planner is a consumer education website about Social Security and retirement income that gives away guidebooks and connects each visitor with a local agent. Codiffy designed the logo and the one-page layout, and built a custom WordPress theme with consumer and professional views, two retirement calculators and a custom agent module that matches visitors to agents by county and ZIP code and prints the matched agent into a personalised PDF guidebook. The site went live on 13 March 2026.

The short version

Challenge
The client wanted one new website that teaches people about Social Security and retirement income, gives away guidebooks and works as the landing page for every agent in its program, with a consumer view and a professional view on one domain.
Approach
We designed the logo and a one-page layout in Figma, then built a custom WordPress theme with a Consumer and Professional toggle, two calculators and a custom agent module that matches each visitor to a local agent by county and ZIP code.
Result
The site went live on 13 March 2026, and its matched lead, non-match and agent registration emails have run since launch.

About the project

Retirement Income Planner helps people understand Social Security and their retirement income. It explains how benefits work, gives away guidebooks and matches each visitor to a local agent in the program, so one site works as the landing page for every agent.

What the client needed

A new product: one simple site in black and white with a consumer view and a professional view on one domain. Consumers learn and download a guide; agents sign up, manage the areas they cover and receive their leads.

What we built

  • Logo and design The logo and the one-page layout, designed in Figma from ten content documents.
  • A custom theme with two views A Consumer and Professional toggle over a hero, topic cards, a calculator preview, trust points, a guide download, education sections, a tools library, a Your Local Agent block, a contact form and an FAQ.
  • Two calculators Retirement Readiness and Social Security Break-Even.
  • Agent module Sign-up, admin review and activation, and a dashboard where each agent manages a photo, states, counties and ZIP codes, sends edit requests with a side by side comparison and sees a list of their leads.
  • Matching The visitor’s location becomes a county and ZIP code. The matching agent is shown on the page and printed into the visitor’s personalised PDF guidebook, and a default agent covers visitors with no match, so no lead is lost.
  • Admin and email modules Agent lifecycle, area assignment, guides, leads and CSV exports, plus a branded email template with a template manager, triggers and logging for six scenarios.

Launch and after

At launch we set up the Mailgun DNS records and tested every form and the matching. After launch, ad links can carry county IDs and an ad ID, so visitors from Facebook ads are matched without the location prompt and the ad ID is saved on their lead.

Technology

WordPress with a custom theme built from the Figma design, without a page builder, and a custom plugin with custom post types for agents, leads and guides. Browser location with a geolocation API, personalised PDF guidebooks, reCAPTCHA and Mailgun. More on our custom plugins, website design and development and brand identity pages.

Questions about this project.

What is Retirement Income Planner?

A consumer education website about Social Security and retirement income. It gives away guidebooks and connects each visitor with a local agent in the program.

How does the agent matching work?

The visitor's location becomes a county and ZIP code. The matching agent is shown on the page and printed into the visitor's personalised PDF guidebook. A default agent covers visitors with no match, so no lead is lost.

What did Codiffy build?

The logo, the one-page design, a custom WordPress theme with a consumer and a professional view, two calculators, and custom agent, admin and email modules.

A redesign and a recreated logo for an insurance compliance consultancy

Challenge
The older WordPress site had a small, blurry logo, a tiny profile photo and an out of date staff listing. The owner wanted a new design that kept her green colours and most of her wording, without a blog page.
Result
The new site went live at the end of June 2023, and the same build is still live more than three years later. The owner edits her pages herself.
