Case study: Midwest Systems and Services, Inc.

Broken links redirected and form emails rescued for a commercial technology company

After a recent redesign, many old page addresses that still ranked in Google led to error pages, the company had no access to the site's Google Analytics, and form emails were being quarantined by Microsoft 365 as phishing.

In short

Midwest Systems and Services, Inc. of Evansville, Indiana designs, installs and services commercial technology systems, from drive-thru communication, sound and surveillance to audio visual, digital signage and mass notification, for restaurants, retail, healthcare and education. Codiffy did not build its website; since April 2026 we have maintained it. We redirected old addresses that led to errors, fixed form emails that Microsoft 365 quarantined as phishing, added SEO fixes and set up Google Search Console.

The short version

Challenge
After a recent redesign, many old page addresses that still ranked in Google led to error pages, the company had no access to the site's Google Analytics, and form emails were being quarantined by Microsoft 365 as phishing.
Approach
We crawled the site and redirected every broken old address to the most relevant page, started monthly maintenance on a staging copy, added SEO fixes and switched the site to send its email through Microsoft 365, with every form submission also saved in the website.
Result
Form emails reach the inbox again and every submission is stored as a backup. In the week to 1 September 2026 no email failed to send.

About Midwest Systems and Services

Midwest Systems and Services, Inc. designs, installs and services commercial technology systems: drive-thru communication, sound and music, surveillance, audio visual, digital signage and mass notification, for restaurants, retail, healthcare and education. It is based in Evansville, Indiana, with offices in Indianapolis, Louisville, Lexington, Ohio and Phoenix. We did not build its website; we maintain it.

What the company needed

The site had just been redesigned, and many old page addresses that still ranked in Google led to error pages. The company had no access to the site’s Google Analytics and wanted the site looked after.

What we did

  • Broken addresses redirected A crawl of the site, every old indexed address that no longer worked redirected to the most relevant page, and a spreadsheet of the fixes for the client.
  • Monthly maintenance A staging copy where every update is tested first, uptime monitoring, and a contact form test after each round.
  • Access cleaned up Admin accounts the company no longer needed removed from WordPress and Google Analytics, with the client’s agreement.
  • SEO LocalBusiness schema, an llms.txt file, a fix for the duplicated homepage title and meta description, Yoast setup, on-page improvements and Google Search Console.
  • Form emails that arrive Microsoft 365 was quarantining the form emails as phishing. We switched the site to send through Microsoft 365 with an authorised company mailbox, and when that connection later expired, reconnected it with a dedicated mailbox and rebuilt the form so each submission is also saved inside the website.
  • Content edits The homepage video, sales team changes and a corrected office phone number.

The result

Form emails reach the inbox again and every submission is stored as a backup, as the client confirmed on 12 June 2026. The email log summary of 1 September 2026 showed no failed emails that week. Google Search Console reported 129 clicks and 15.3K impressions in July 2026 and 150 clicks and 15.6K impressions in August 2026; there is no figure from before our work to compare with.

Technology

WordPress, Yoast SEO, WP Mail SMTP Pro connected to Microsoft 365, Contact Form 7 with stored submissions, Wordfence, Google Analytics and Google Search Console. More on our maintenance, technical SEO and QA and troubleshooting pages.

Questions about this project.

Why were the form emails not arriving?

Microsoft 365 was quarantining them as phishing. We switched the site to send through Microsoft 365 with an authorised company mailbox, later reconnected it with a dedicated mailbox, and made every submission save in the website as well.

How were the broken links fixed?

We crawled the site, found the old indexed addresses that no longer worked and redirected each one to the most relevant page, then sent the client a spreadsheet of the fixes.

What SEO work was done?

LocalBusiness schema, an llms.txt file, a fix for the duplicated homepage title and meta description, Yoast setup, on-page improvements and Google Search Console.

Custom EL wire builders, repairs and SEO for a WooCommerce store

Challenge
By July 2019 every page of the store except the home page returned a 404 error, 28 plugins were overdue for updates, live chat had disappeared and shoppers in Canada could not get shipping rates. The owner also could not change the Kit Builder's prices himself.
Result
In October 2019 the store ranked first for "el wire kit builder". The SEO report for 14 December 2019 to 14 January 2020 showed a significant rise in monthly organic revenue and more than 10 newly ranking keywords.

Malware removed and two sister tour company websites locked down

Challenge
In October 2023 visitors to the Snowy Owl Sled Dog Tours website started seeing spam pop-ups and redirects. The site also ran an outdated PHP version, an outdated theme and several unused plugins, and it had not been updated since it was built.
Result
The infection was removed and the way in closed within about two weeks of the first report. By 6 November 2023 both sites were fully updated and on PHP 8.2.
